In 2024, Mari Mari Emmanuel was promoted to Metropolitan Bishop of Australia and New Zealand. This promotion came after his extraordinary work in evangelizing through online networks such as TikTok and Youtube. On the 15th of April of the same year, he was charged by a man with a knife while preaching. As seen on camera, dozens of parishioners charged the bishop's attacker and in doing so were injured themselves. Mass riots broke out all over Sydney right after the stabbing. He has since been hospitalized and expected to survive.
